How the representations affect teenage girls
in this article the publisher is writing about how teenage girls are growing up so fast, girls at the age of 14 are having to worry about things that shouldn't be affecting them at this age, they are taking on problems that should only be presenting themselves at the age of 16 and 17. the media is producing all of these images of younger and younger girls being in things like half naked model shoots and t.v programs and magazine articles that are full of sex and nudity. this representation of hat a teenage girl is has been drilled into societys mind and so people wonder why 14 year old's are wearing make up and  go to party's and drinking, it is because this is what they are being told they have to do to grow up and be a normal girl.

How the representations affect society's perception of  teenage girls attitude?
this image is affecting society's perception of teenage girls because there is so much bad publicity in the media about them  that society is believing that this is what our generation is actually like. there is probably more younger girls around the age of 14-16 who dress slutty and do the so called 'normal' teenage girl thing because they are still finding out who they are, when older teenage girls have already found themselves and have decided there own opinion and beliefs. society is believing that all young girls are like this so people are starting to look down onto them and not just them but young woman adults in the ages of 20-23 because society believes that this so called behavior from teenage girls is still going on when they reach this age, this could affect so many aspects in a girls life including the way that they get hired in a job and the way teenage girls see themselves, if society has a low expectation for them they are not going to aim very high.

Reasons/ implications for any differences between the representation and reality

In reality yes some of these situations do happen but the representation of teenage girls has been blown out proportion, girls are been shown from birth the way they should act and how to look, there are so many video clips movies t.v programs ect that show woman as sex objects something that is there to be looked at or used, know wonder there are girls that get pregnant at the age of 14. The implications of having such sexual representations of girls is that some of them strive to be like this because it is portrayed that with beauty there is popularity money and lust from boys,  But in reality this is not something that young teenage girls should be striving for or be getting told to be like, it is the media who is sending this message out to our generation and they are the ones that are mixing there ideal reality by representing woman in a way that is disrespectful for the female race.

teenage girl advert

.
how these representations affect teenage girls?
This advert is sterotyping all typical teenage girls into being ditzy unresponsible and bad drivers. this clip is a good example of showing how teenage girls are grouped, the video is trying to tell the auidence that all teenage girls are all the same and that typically they are bad drivers. . This is very bad advertising because the media is putting out this image that makes teenage girls seem uncapable of being as good as drivers as boys/men, sometimes resulting in unfair testing in driver licence applations, this representation can also  affect the way teenage girls think about themselfs, because the media it constantly saying that teenage girls are typically bad drivers they could start to doubt there own abilty to drive meaninng they could feel unconfortable driving in busy areas and have a lack of self belife in drivnig and other aspects of life. This representation is also affecting the way teenage girls can think about themselfs because they are saying that if you are not liek this then yuo are not a 'typical teenage girl' which is something that is hard for girls to hear because most teenagers spend there whole teenage life trying to fit in and when the media  is pretty much telling  them that if they dont drive like this they are not a normal teenage girl. this is a very dangerous acusation because some girls try so hard to fit in that they could actually end up driving this recklacley so that they are classidfied as a 'typical tennage girl'.

how the representation affects societys attitide towards teenage girls?
It is also presenting the image that 'typical' teenage girls are self obssesed and only think about themselves, they try presenting this in the clip through the way the 'teenage girl' is driving a big pink car, texting while driving and crashing into another car, then driving away.this sterotype is affecting societys atitude towards teenage girls becuase this clip is telling them that girls cant drive and that they shouldnt be trusted to drive on the roads because they are inacapable of doing this, this kind of advert is very dangerous for teenage girls representations because the more people talk about the bad driving the more it will be publisided and the more sterotyped teenage girls will get affecting the way they are treated by society, teenage girls are even getting  abused by public for driving and the more this carrys on thw worse it can get.

Reasons for any differences between the representation and reality?
this clip is all about selling the product to males, they are going to see this video clip and laugh because of the box that they have put females in which is that they are bad drivers, males will see this clip and it will make them laugh and want to buy the product because it makes them feel better about themselves and there own driving and  because they can just think to themselves well at least I'm not a female driver. it is giving men the power to feel more superoiur to woman and so when the media does this to its selling the men the product that they are going to want to buy.

This clip is also very sterotyped, it is the way the public views 'teenage girls'. it is a very bad representation because only a small number of teenage girls actually drive liek this, the fact is that in reality a teenage girl would not be given her licence of she drove this recklesly, in new zealand you have to learn all the road rules first and then go on to driving with a adult supervisor, then go back to a testing offcer who decides weither or not you are capable of having a restriced licence where you are able to drive by yourself. this video clip and sterotyed group is also over looking the fact that   actually  statistics show that teenage boys drive more recklessly, with about 20 per cent more crashes per mile driven than teenage girls. this shows that girls are being sterotyped into this group becvause of the way some may act in other parts of there lifes.

Reasons why the sterotype messages are created by the representations?
The media has  been influenced into thinking that a typical teenage girl is like this because of celebratiys like lindsey lohanen, britney spears and miley cyrus. these girls are teenage role models and people who crash their cars and text/ call while driving drive and are self obssesed  so the media takes this image and sterotypes  every teenage girl that looks up to these starts into this catergory.

Reasons why the slection of material reinforce the sterotypes, messages or values?

the materials used in the video reinforce the sterotype of teenage girls being bad drivers through the way that the 'teenage girl' drove into the other car and thinking nothing of it and driving away, this is the message that shows the viewer that they are irresponsible people and can't admit  to when they have gone wrong, it also brings in deeper ideas like the fact that the car is pink so its bringing in childish views also like the issue that teenage girls act older then there age and that they are people that shouldn't be taking seriously and basically projecting the view that they don't no what they are doing with their lives.

Mean Girls

How the representations affect teenage girls?
The movie mean girls is based on stereotypical views of teenagers and more importantly teenage girls. in the movie all of the popular girls are very skinny pretty and rich and all the nerds and "outcasts" are genuinely fat different looking or poor. i think this is the worst kind of representation of popular vs unpopular because teenage girls who watch these kind of movies get it into their heads that that is the image they have to be if they want to be popular or have a good life, in the movie Regina George comes across as having a perfect life and she has all the other attributes to being popular so when teenagers see this they believe that to be happy they have to be skinny rich and pretty.

How the representations affect societys perception  of teennage girls?
this is also portrayed not just in films but in real life to, the representations of teenage girls can have a dangerous affect on society because being that perfect image is just so unrealistic, but there are girls who try to be like that and can actually put themselves in danger to look a certain way,1 in 4 teenage girls may suffer from the symptoms of an eating disorder. some of these cases are because of the medias portraly of teenage girls. a lot of people do not realise how much pressure that girls can have to look act and be a certain way, even in the movie there is the part when Regina wants to lose 5 pounds and so goes on a diet, when actually katy is giving her bars that make her gain weight and so you see that the fatter regina gets the more outcast and unpopular she becomes so this is also sending a message to the viewers that to be popular you have to be slim.

Reasons for any differences between the representation and reality?
In this photo Regina is trying on her prom dress and she has become to big to fit into the dress and so the shop lady says to her that she can't shop here because its doesn't supply sizes any bigger then 6.

In the movie mean girls another teenager representation is that all popular girls dress slutty. when katy moves from being unpopular to being popular you see her going from wearing jeans and a jumper or long sleeve shirt to short shorts or mini skirts and push up bras with small tank tops this is sending a message to the public that most teenage girls are sluts, affecting girls in society on what they wear because the public can easily make assumptions of them and hurtful judgements.
this film is trying to sell to the public that teenagers are all rowdy and have fun and that things happen in your life when you go to high school, the media is targeting intermediate students and even people who have just started high school to believe that high school can be glamours and dramas and things exciting like that do go on, it is sending the message that they should stay in school or go ot co-ed high schools to experince this kind of holloywood dream high school experince.
